Agents in swoop on Mel B ex
MEL B’s estranged husband had his house searched by federal agents in a latenight swoop.
Stephen Belafonte, who has had a series of run-ins with the law in the past, was approached by agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
The 41-year-old was photographed being patted down outside the mansion in the Hollywood Hills before officials entered the house armed with crowbars, a battering ram and other tools.
It was reported officers were searching for firearms but left with nothing.
Their investigation is said to be ongoing.
Former Spice Girl Mel, 41, travelled from America to Britain last week to attend her dad Martin’s funeral.
The 63-year-old’s death from cancer is said to have made her re-evaluate her stormy marriage to Stephen before she filed for divorce last month, citing irreconcilable differences.
Mel’s decision to split with the film producer healed a decade-long rift with her family, who objected to the marriage.
The singer was seen leaving her father’s funeral at St Aidan’s church in Leeds with sister Danielle and mother Andrea during the private burial service.
Pals say she is desperate to thrash out divorce terms with Stephen.
Mel has requested joint legal and physical custody of their five-year-old daughter, Madison Brown, and requested the termination of the court’s ability to award spousal support to Belafonte.
