Gloria, who presents the BBC series Rip Off Britain, reckons pensioners are most at risk of being targeted.
She said: “Older people are targeted by door-to-door scams and cold calling. I remember speaking to one man in his 90s who had lost all his savings.
“He told me, ‘What you need to realise is I might go two weeks without seeing a living soul and they were very nice and I enjoyed talking to them’.
“These scammers are very clever and people get sucked in. He had been through the war and a concentration camp and yet these people had scammed him for all his money.
“And of course, a lot of older people have early dementia. Often their children will offer to take control of their money but they don’t always want to give up that last bastion of independence. My sister died from dementia and she used to hide money in towels and sheets.”
The lad posing as Gloria’s grandson Alan Dowie was handed a suspended jail term after pleading guilty to conspiracy to defraud and money-laundering. But the two women are still on the run. Gloria said: “I felt violated by what happened. Knowing they are still out there doesn’t make me feel good.” FIFTY Shades heartthrob Jamie Dornan is set to star opposite Angelina Jolie in a remake of Cleopatra.

Oscar winner Angelina, 41, has reportedly told the producers she specifically wants Jamie, 34.
And an insider confirmed: “Angie wanted someone tall, dark and handsome, but not so famous or established that he would overshadow her.”

Our source added: “Now, she is hoping he can be tied to a big deal as soon as possible so the project can move forward.”
But Jamie’s wife – actress Amelia Warner – doesn’t appear to be particularly happy about the deal.
Jamie says Amelia cannot watch even a single steamy scene from his two Fifty Shades films.
A source told the Daily Star Sunday: “Amelia is extremely wary – and more than a little worried – at the thought of Jamie cavorting on camera with Angelina.
“What woman wouldn’t be concerned about her man spending months with one of the world’s most desirable women?”
