NIGEL: I’LL TELL REAL TRUTH ABOUT TAKE THAT

-

TAKE That’s former manager Nigel Martin-Smith has vowed to share the band’s secrets in a warts-and-all autobiography.

Nigel, inset, launched the group in 1991 before having a huge fall-out with Robbie Williams.

Two court cases between the pair followed, with Nigel winning both.

It led to Robbie labelling his former boss the “Spawn of Satan”. Robbie’s bandmates Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Jason Orange and Howard Donald have all since spoken out against MartinSmith.

But after 25 years, Nigel has now vowed to tell the world his account of what happened in the band.

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Star Sunday, he said: “I’ve never done a book because I didn’t JAMES INGHAM want to come across as bitter and nasty. “But if I don’t actually tell the truth then I will go to the grave as the ‘evil devil manager’ forever.

“I’ve been painted as a terrible manager and a bad person and that’s not fair. I actually had to sue Robbie over claims I was either a bad manager or a thief, and I won.”

Nigel turned Take That into one of the most successful groups in UK pop history. But after being ditched from their comeback in 2005, relations between him and the members of the group also soured. Despite his feud with Robbie, Nigel said he was more hurt by claims in a book written by Gary Barlow. He said: “I was actually really gutted reading Gary’s autobiography. I had to put it down because some of the things he said weren’t right.” Nigel added: “I was prepared to keep quiet but I’m not any more. “I think it’s important for pop culture history that people finally know the truth.” Take That are back in the charts as a trio with their eighth studio album Wonderland. Meanwhile, Nigel is launching a new boyband Yes Lad, who found fame on The X Factor last year.
