ANGRY JOSE CHALLENGES QUARTET FOR LITTLE MOUR

-

JOSE MOURINHO last night DEMANDED more consistency from four of his Manchester United players – Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Anthony Martial.

The United boss took the unusual step of naming the guilty men after yesterday’s 0-0 draw against West Brom at Old Trafford.

A frustrated Mourinho (below) said: “Valencia and Young were consistent, so were Rojo, Bailly, Fellaini and Carrick.

“The others were not. You see a flash of talent, then players disappear for 10 minutes and it’s the same guys.

“We need to kill opponents. We’ll see how many goals Lingard, Rashford, Mkhitaryan and Martial have at the end of the season.

“It is Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Juan Mata who score the goals and both were out of the game today.

“It’s another frustrating match and we’ve had a lot of this.

“We also came up against an amazing defensive performance by West Brom. They were very solid.

“Their keeper was magnificent but that is normal against us. We deserved to win and I was happy with the way we played.

“It’s 19 matches without defeat in the league which is an amazing record. But it’s another home draw.

“I still prefer to play at home rather than away but we need to take our chances.

“And that includes when it is one-on-one with the keeper.”

That was a dig at Mkhitaryan, who fluffed a great chance and was promptly substituted and replaced by Wayne Rooney.

Mourinho also made it clear with his squad selection yesterday how difficult it is going to be for England left-back Luke Shaw to regain his place.

Even with six players unavailable, Shaw failed to make the bench.

But there was some good news for the United manager.

Albion boss Tony Pulis said: “I wouldn’t bet against United winning the league next season.”
