Online ‘stores’ send out Semtex in post

-

CRIMINALS are sending the explosive Semtex to terrorists through the post, we can reveal.

The substance is being sold on secret internet markets and shipped to extremists across Europe.

Now there are fears fanatics in Britain are ordering huge batches to carry out attacks on our shores. Two suspected jihadis were caught last month in Holland allegedly taking delivery of the deadly plastic explosive.

Semtex is favoured by terrorists as it is versatile and hard to detect – and capable of killing hundreds of people.

The Daily Star Sunday understands MI5 and GCHQ are monitoring several encrypted weapons websites ready to carry out sting operations. One seller on A POLICEMAN’S sons have written a charity single in memory of Westminster terror victim PC Keith Palmer.

Serving officer Peter Baker said his lads Adam, 13, and Luke, 11, were moved by the killing of PC Palmer, left, in March by Khalid Masood.

Officers from 20 forces sang the tune, We Stand Together, to raise cash for Care of Police Survivors, a charity helping families of officers who have died in the line of duty. an invitation-only site on the dark web – a hidden part of the internet accessible only via specialist software – offered us Semtex for less than £2 a gram.

Just 250g is enough to take down an airliner.

The vendor, on a Russian-based market site which we are not naming, posted: Peter, from County Durham, said: “The boys wanted something that showed respect for the police and the job we are doing.”

The tune is available from iTunes, Google Play and Amazon. JOHN WARD “Semtex-1A, Pre-Blended, Stabilized. Sold by the gram.

“The product is not sold with detonators. “I will not respond to enquiries that are not encrypted.” He posted two pictures of the explosive moulded into balls of various sizes, one alongside a cigarette lighter.

Worryingly, 12 batches have been sold in the last six months, the last at the end of March. Last night a security source told the Daily Star Sunday: “The delivery of Semtex and other plastic explosives via dark web markets is going on across Europe and that includes the UK.”

Our investigators also found manuals on C4 explosives and guides on how to produce homemade bombs.
