DEAL OR Boss targets huge net gain from his men

-

PEP GUARDIOLA is demanding his Manchester City superstars become goal-den boys next season and bring the title back to The Etihad.

City spent the season creating chances for fun and going into the final game they have netted 75 – five short of champions Chelsea.

Guardiola (below) wants his men to be more clinical next time around or they will never overtake Chelsea or runners-up Tottenham.

The City boss is looking for Kevin De Bruyne in particular to be deadlier than this season. The Belgian, 25, leads the Premier League assists table with 16 but has only netted seven goals.

De Bruyne has also smacked the woodwork nine times – three more than Paul Pogba at Manchester United.

Guardiola, asked the biggest plus he will take into the new season, said: “I learn you have to score more goals, especially at home.

“We dropped a lot of points and didn’t score enough goals at home.

“So we have to create more chances to create more goals. If we want to reduce that gap, maybe that gap with Tottenham and Chelsea will be short. If we don’t, it will be the same.

“I think we have the guys. For example, Kevin has the most assists in the league and he hit the crossbar so many times. So the distance between goal and no goal is maybe centimetres.

“And when you just score in half of those situations maybe there are seven or eight more points. “So just to be a little bit more precise in those situations and we are going to try.

“Kevin, I think, is a guy to score 12 to 14 goals. No problem at all. We have to score more goals – if not we suffer.” STEVE MILLAR
