BRITS could save almost £1,000 this half-term, despite an 8% hike in holiday prices

M&S Bank says the cost of a holiday next week has risen by 7.9%, or £280, year-on-year.

But families can still save more than £950 on a getaway if they choose a lesser-known destination instead of more popular resorts.

A firm favourite with Brits, Spain offers the biggest alternative destination saving this year with families able to pocket an impressive £952 or 21% by choosing to stay in the southern resort of Fuengirola rather than Seville.

Direct flights to Fuengirola are also more than £500 cheaper than ones to Seville, with accommodation costs also significantly cheaper.

Bulgaria is the best value destination, costing £3,172 for a family of four. Families heading to Greece could save £500 by opting for Zakynthos instead of Crete. Meanwhile, WITH the sun out and a bank holiday tomorrow, there is no better time to capture those memories than with some personalised photo magnets to stick on your fridge.
