You’ll get a final say over EU deal

-

WHEN you vote on Thursday, ask yourself what kind of country you want our children to grow up in.

I want them to grow up in a Britain where people are decent to each other, where we have good schools and hospitals, and where every family can afford a home of their own.

That’s why the Liberal Democrats will put a penny on income tax to rescue the NHS and social care from collapse, improve mental health services and cap care costs for the elderly.

It’s why we’ll invest £7billion in education to reverse Tory cuts and ensure school budgets rise in line with inflation and pupil numbers.

It’s why we’ll double house-building to build 300,000 new homes a year, and make them more energy efficient, cutting carbon emissions and heating bills at the same time.

That’s the brighter future we could build together. Theresa May is putting that future at risk by pursuing an extreme version of Brexit, pulling the UK out of the single market and the customs union.

That would wreck our economy. It would hit businesses and jobs, and push up prices in the shops. And it would weaken the by TIM FARRON Leader of The Liberal Democrats nation’s finances, choking off funding for our schools, hospitals and other public services. On this – the issue that will define our country’s future – Jeremy Corbyn failed to stand up for you. Instead, he ordered Labour MPs to vote with the Tories and give Theresa May a blank cheque to impose a destructive Brexit on Britain. Only the Liberal Democrats will give you the final say over the Brexit deal in a referendum. If you don’t like the deal, we’ll give you the chance to reject it and remain in the EU. It’s your future; it should be your choice. Both Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn would deny you that choice and take Britain out of the single market, which would be disastrous for our economy. That’s why I’ve been clear, the Liberal Democrats will not enter into coalition deals, either with the Tories or Labour. A vote for the Liberal Democrats is just that: a vote for the Liberal Democrats. This is your chance to choose a brighter future for Britain. Liberal Democrat MPs will stand up for you and fight for the fairer country we all want to build.
