CITY READY TO PAY ALEXIS £275k PER WEEK

- Paul Hetherington

MANCHESTER CITY are ready to make Alexis Sanchez the highest-paid player in their history if he can be prised away from Arsenal.

Sanchez would earn £275k a week at The Etihad if he is reunited with his former Barcelona boss, Pep Guardiola.

City are hoping Arsenal will accept an offer of £50million for Sanchez, 28.

The Chilean scored 30 goals for Arsenal in all competitions in the season that has just ended.

That underlined his importance to the Gunners and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is adamant that he will be staying.

But Sanchez, who has only a year remaining on his contract, has not agreed a new deal and Arsenal face losing him for nothing next year.

He is also wanted by Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and has been linked with Premier League winners Chelsea.

If City can strike a deal it would end, for the time being at least, their interest in Monaco sensation Kylian Mbappe, 18.

But Mbappe is more likely to sign a new deal with Monaco – or move to Champions League winners and La Liga champions Real Madrid.

City, having already signed Benfica goalkeeper Ederson Moraes, 23, and Monaco midfielder Bernardo Silva, 22, for a combined outlay of £78m, are also in the market for a centre-back and two full-backs.

They remain interested in Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk, 25, but will not meet the Saints’ valuation of £70m.

Tottenham right-back Kyle Walker, though, is expected to be a City player by the end of this week, when his England commitments are completed.

Walker, 27, is valued at £40 m by Tottenham but manager Mauricio Pochettino is prepared to sanction his sale.

Pochettino intends on using Kieran Trippier ,26, as his first-choice right- back next season.
