School’s out for rap king
KANYE West has been snubbed by his local school after offering to give its 1,800 students a complete fashion makeover.
He claimed to be planning a deal to redesign the black and gold uniforms at LA’s Calabasas High School to promote his own clothing label in return for a huge donation to upgrade its gym and improve campus facilities.
The rapper said he also hoped to change the 46-yearold nickname of the school’s sports teams from Coyotes to Wolves – the title of a hip-hop single he released last year.
But local education department spokeswoman Kim Prince said Kanye didn’t even bother to turn up for a recent meeting with the principal and sent an aide instead.
Ms Prince added: “There’s no proposal on the wall. Nothing was signed and no numbers were quoted.”
She also insisted parents, pupils and governors would reject any change to the “Coyotes” nickname.
“That’s just not going to happen,” said Ms Prince. “People would lose their minds over that.”
But a spokesman for West – whose family mansion in Hidden Hills is just miles from the school – insisted that the uniform redesign is still a “viable, long-term project”.
