JACOBS’ Crackers

ROYAL ASCOT

Tuesday RIBCHESTER landed the Lockinge at Newbury despite everything going against him and he can follow up last year’s Jersey Stakes win in the the Queen Anne (2.30).

A big hulk of a horse, we will probably not see the best of him until next year but he looks far superior to his rivals.

DECLARATIONOFPEACE impressed on the clock when winning his maiden and is the Aidan O’Brien flyer to note in the Coventry Stakes (3.05), while CHURCHILL looks hard to oppose in the St James’s Palace Stakes (4.20).

The Ascot Stakes (5.00) offers more each-way value in the form of OCEANE at around the 16-1 mark.

Wednesday In the hope that he runs in the opening Jersey Stakes, as opposed to the Commonwealth Cup, DREAM CASTLE is my nap of the meeting.

He made Barney Roy look slow between the 2f and 1f markers in the Greenham when he whistled to the front only to be outstayed.

Wesley Ward has a brilliant record with his juveniles and his HAPPY LIKE A FOOL is rumoured to be his best yet and is expected to land the Queen Mary Stakes (3.05). The best each-way play in the Royal Hunt Cup (5.00) is the progressive EL VIP after he hosed up in a fair contest at Newcastle last time out.

Thursday ORDER OF ST GEORGE was given a horrendous ride by Ryan Moore (below) in last year’s Gold Cup but still won.

He may be short in the betting but should double up. Stepping up to 1m 4f looks the natural course for WEEKENDER in the King George V Handicap

(5.35). Friday The Commonwealth Cup (3.40) could be the race of the meeting and I am willing to take on Haydock winner Harry Angel with US raider BOUND FOR NOWHERE who clocked some seriously good splits last time out. FRONTIERSMAN could not handle the gradients at Epsom but can gain handsome consolation in the Hardwicke Stakes (3.40). Saturday OUTBACK TRAVELLER (5.00) can win back-toback Wokinghams granted a favourable draw. He ran much better than his finishing position in the Victoria Handicap last time out. The Golden Jubilee will be ground orientated. On a fast surface MAGICAL MEMORY is the call.
