TV host’s £1m pad shows he’s back in the money GREGG IS MASTER OF THE HOUSE

-

TV’S MasterChef host Gregg Wallace has bought a £1million retreat – two years on from the collapse of his business empire.

Four-times wed Gregg was almost wiped out by failed ventures and costly divorces in recent years.

But sources said the star had “turned a corner” and was “financially back on track” after the success of MasterChef and other TV projects.

The 52-year-old has forked out for the impressive farmhouse, which has a Michelin-starred restaurant nearby.

The Kent property comes with five bedrooms, three reception rooms, a master bedroom suite, stunning breakfast room, five acres, stables and a pond.

Gregg, who currently lives in the seaside town of Whitstable with his wife and two children, moves in next month.

One local said: “The area is becoming more popular with celebrities. Coldplay drummer Will Champion and Denise van Outen have houses nearby.

“Everyone is very friendly and the area is beautiful. I’m sure Gregg and his family will be warmly welcomed.”

The TV star hit the headlines in 2013 when he became involved in a brawl with a man who he claimed had goosed his then girlfriend, Anne-Marie Sterpini.

He said at the time: “I did what any bloke would do.”

Although successful on TV, Gregg has been less fortunate in business dealings. According to Companies House records he was once the director of nine firms, but six of them have been dissolved with liabilities between £50,000 and £1.8m.

Gregg began his career selling vegetables at a stand in Covent Garden.

He started George Allan’s Greengrocers in 1989, a firm which he built up to an eventual turnover of £7.5million.
