ADELE: FANS’ FURY OVER AXED SHOWS

Sick singer’s gig axe row

- EXCLUSIVE by JAMES INGHAM

FURIOUS fans have slammed Adele for cancelling her final two concerts at Wembley Stadium.

Outraged ticket holders blasted the superstar singer, 29, for axing the shows due to her vocal problems.

Hundreds of devastated music lovers raged over travel and hotel expenses which they said they would not be able to get refunded.

Many of the 196,000 fans expected to attend were flying in from overseas to see the Hello hitmaker live.

One called the Rolling In The Deep singer a “selfish cow”.

Another angry punter posted: “#whothef**k cancels” after revealing they had booked flights from Amsterdam to propose to their girlfriend at the gig.

A third fan, from Latvia, wrote: “Refund only available if the show can not be rescheduled? Reschedule it in Latvia then!! I’m not coming back.”

A terminally-ill cancer victim said she was “utterly devastated” she would not get to see the singer before she died.

Dying mum-of-two Lisa Middlecote, 49, from Kent, told earlier how she had cried tears of joy at the thought of seeing the icon.

Another fan wrote: “It’s all well cancelling last minute and refunding the tickets but some pay hundreds for flights/hotels. I am sooooo disappointed.”

A sixth added: “Currently sat in the work loo crying my eyes out, absolutely heartbroken.

“All the money people have spent on hotel rooms and train tickets. This was Christmas and birthday gifts for my mum.”

A “heartbroken” Adele cancelled last night’s and tonight’s farewell shows late on Friday due to ill-health.

She said in a statement: “On medical advice, I am simply unable to perform over the weekend.

“I’ve considered doing Saturday night’s show, but it’s highly unlikely I’d even make it through the set and I simply can’t crumble in front of you all and walk out on you in that way.”

The Oscar winner admitted she had even considered lip-syncing.

But she added: “I’ve never done it and I cannot in a million years do that to you. It wouldn’t be the real me up there.”

Last night, it was not known if the cancelled shows will be rescheduled.

Adele finished the post by saying: “There will be more information over the next few days. I’m sorry, I’m devastated...please forgive me x.”

Just a few days earlier the star, who performed on Wednesday and Thursday, hinted that fans may never see her live again.

She told the audience: “I might never see you again at a live show, but I’ll remember this for the rest of my life.”

The Someone Like You singer has become the bestselling artist of the last 20 years, selling an estimated 65million albums.

She is worth more than £125m.
