US actress ‘under guard’ as royal wedding rumours fly MEG MINDER

-

PRINCE Harry’s girlfriend has been given a full-time minder amid growing rumours of a royal engagement.

Meghan Markle is being protected by the bodyguard while filming her TV drama Suits in Toronto.

After spending ten days in London with Harry, who she has dated for a year, Meghan returned to Canada last week.

She was picked up at the airport in Toronto where her car was spotted in a secure area used only by VIPs.

Later she was photographed arriving at her home with the man, thought to be a private bodyguard.

It is not known who is paying for the protection.

A source told the Daily Star Sunday: “It’s as sure a sign as any that their relationship has become more serious and is heading rapidly towards an engagement.”

The added security comes on top of reports that Meghan has been trying on wedding dresses by a prestigious Toronto designer.

After looking at ball gowns by Paloma Blanca, Meghan tried on a traditional outfit with a strapless bodice and ruffled PHIL DAMPIER skirt. She rejected another which had an exposed midriff, which she admitted would be unsuitable for a royal wedding.

A friend said: “She joked she couldn’t walk down the aisle of Westminster Abbey in it!

“But the fact she’s trying on dresses and thinking about a wedding shows how serious things are.”

We revealed Harry’s fledgling romance with Meghan in a world exclusive last November.

In April we told how Harry wanted to propose to her this summer so that she could be by his side as his fiancée at the Invictus Games for ex-servicemen and women in Toronto in September.

And last month we reported that he is to give her an engagement ring made from his beloved mother’s bracelet.

In recent months Meghan and Harry have enjoyed a friend’s wedding in Jamaica, been seen at polo together and attended Pippa Middleton’s wedding reception.

There have been rumours Meghan went with Harry, Prince William and wife Kate and their children for a rededication service at Princess Diana’s grave on the Althorp Estate in Northamptonshire last weekend.

Kensington Palace has refused to comment on the reports.

A friend of the couple said last night: “I think it’s safe to say that it’s not if, but when they will get married.

“They are deeply in love and can’t bear to be apart from each other.

“The next stage is for Meghan to meet the Queen and that could happen the next time she is over.”

Meanwhile, Princess Diana’s former police bodyguard Ken Wharfe told us: “It would make sense for Meghan to have a bodyguard.

“There is intense pressure on her and massive media intrusion.

“It all became very difficult for Kate when she was dating William, and with the current climate, security is uppermost in many people’s minds.

“Of course the moment they do get engaged she will be watched round the clock by Scotland Yard.

“The royals always marry within a short space of time of engagement announcements for security reasons.”

Meghan, who turns 36 next month, is expected to quit Suits when filming of the current series ends.

She began playing her character, Rachel Zane, in 2011.

Harry, 32, has often said that he would love to be a dad and the friend added: “They will want to start a family as soon as possible.” PATRICK WILLIAMS
