MUM: ‘I’LL STOP TERROR’

-

THE mother of Manchester bombing victim Martyn Hett plans to work with youngsters at risk of being radicalised by terrorists.

Figen Murray vowed to ensure something positive would come from the death of her 22-year-old son following the Ariana Grande concert bombing.

The inspirational mum said: “I’m a trained counsellor but I can’t do that at the moment so I’m going to do something positive with it. I want to work with the Tim Parry Foundation.

“I want to help them in their work with young people to stop them being radicalised. I want to hold workshops with these young people.” Coronation Street superfan Martyn was honoured with a posthumous Attitude Magazine Pride Award on Friday.

After collecting the award from Corrie’s Helen Worth (Gail McIntyre), Figen said Martyn had predicted he JAMES INGHAM would die young. She said: “I feel like it was Martyn’s time to go. He lived life in the fast lane and always said he was going to die young and tragic. “He’d even written instructions for his funeral. I think he always had an inkling this was going to happen, that he was going to go in a tragic way – and boy did he go out with a bang.”

Figen has also revealed plans to write a book on coping with grief, adding: “That is going to be my way of processing it. Putting it into words will help me and hopefully others.”

Figen added of the bomber: “I’m not angry with the guy because I thought he was just a young, stupid, silly boy who was not brought up the way Martyn was raised.” The Attitude Pride Awards honoured members of the LGBT community, with guests including Gok Wan and Nick Grimshaw.
