RESULT! Sheiken Verratti in a very sorry state

-

ROMA sporting director Ramon Verdejo yesterday insisted that midfielder Radja Nainggolan WILL NOT be leaving the club anytime soon.

Recent reports in Italy suggest both Man United boss Jose Mourinho and Chelsea chief Antonio Conte have held talks with Nainggolan about a Premier League switch.

But Roma say they will not listen to any offers for the Belgian, 29, this summer.

Verdejo said: “Nainggolan will definitely stay at Roma. The time of selling important players is over. Now we build a team with the options that the market provides.

“One of the objectives we are working on is a winger and we’ll try to get that done as quickly as possible.

“I prefer to wait and bring in the player I really want rather than to act hastily.”

STEVE MORGAN MARCO VERRATTI has has been forced to say sorry to Paris SaintGermain chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi after his agent claimed he was being kept “prisoner” in Paris.

Barcelona are desperate to sign the Italian, 24, but PSG refuse to even come to the negotiating table.

As a result his agent, Donato di Campli, claimed the midfielder was the “prisoner of the sheikh”.

But Verratti (below) replied: “We’ve gone through some tough times over the last few days.

“I saw what my agent said and just want to say that they are not my words at all.

“I want to apologise to everyone at the club – the president, the fans and the players.

“I am very happy here, we got back to training now, I am thrilled to be back here and start working again.

“I know the club trusts me and I really want to apologise once again.

“I don’t talk much because I have a lot of respect for Paris SaintGermain. I have become the player I am today thanks to the club and that is why I am deeply sorry.

“They were not my words and he made a big mistake. I hope that this will not happen again.

“Everyone wants to focus on working. I will do my best, as I always do for the club.” Barcelona, however, are refusing to drop their interest. President Josep Maria Bartomeu said: “Verratti is a player we like.

“Robert Fernandez (sporting director) wants him to come, as do Ernesto Valverde (team manager) and Pep Segura (general manager).

“And we know that the player wants to come to Barca.

“The problem is that PSG have told us they don’t want to negotiate.

“The fact there is no release clause is a problem because you can’t go there and sign a player if the club don’t want to sell.”
