■ LOVE Island bosses have told contestants to get busy in the bedroom to keep viewers hooked.

Producers hauled couples in and said: “Stop sitting around smoking. This isn’t a holiday – it’s a TV show.”

LOVE Island chiefs have ordered contestants to spice up the show – by having more nookie.

They are convinced it needs extra bedroom action to keep viewers hooked.

We can reveal islanders were called to a meeting with producers and told: “Be more frisky!”

A Love Island insider said last night: “The production team think the show needs even more sex. They reckon viewers love seeing it.”

Love Island has been a ratings sensation and is pulling in more than 2.4million a night.

It has thrashed Channel 5 rival Big Brother, which is getting just 800,000 viewers. But Love Island bosses are terrified their figures could dip before the final later this month. So they hauled in contestants and read the riot act.

Producers told them: “This isn’t a holiday – it’s a TV show. We need you to make it worth watching.”

Islanders were also ticked off for smoking and drinking for hours on end.

So far this series three couples have enjoyed sex sessions. Dom Lever and Jess Shears romped early on, followed by Montana Brown and Alex Beattie.

And Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies have had sex as recently as last week. But many contestants have decided not to go all the way on camera.

Olivia Attwood and Chris Hughes have been together for weeks but have only enjoyed a fumble so far.

Jamie Jewitt and Camilla Thurlow spent a private night in the villa’s hideaway, but didn’t have sex.

Golden couple Gabby Allen and Marcel Somerville are also yet to consummate their relationship.

And Tyla Carr hasn’t had any X-rated fun, despite having a string of lads after her.

Our source said: “There has been some sex this series but not as much as last year. Quite a few of the contestants seem to be waiting until they get out. Olivia has admit- ted she’s desperate to have sex – but not while she’s still on the show.”

Meanwhile, bosses have been forced to issue repeated warnings that contestants must use condoms when having sex.

ITV chiefs fear unprotected romps could spark a shock pregnancy or even an STD scare.

The insider said: “Kem and Amber have been told countless times that it is important for them to use condoms. She has already had to ask for the morning after pill once.

“Also, while they have all been tested for STDs, there is still a chance one of them has one and it didn’t show up on the test, meaning condoms are vital.”
