Mel’s on her own
■ MEL B’s mum told of her devastation at not being able to be with her daughter during her divorce battle, writes GRACE CRAWFORD.
Andrea Brown was blocked from travelling to the US in a mix-up over documents.
She tweeted: “Tears at what Melanie’s going through…the embassy wouldn’t let me fly out.”
■ Mel, 42, who alleges she is being blackmailed over a sex tape by her estranged husband Stephen Belafonte, has been ordered by a court to pay him £30,000 a month in temporary spousal support.
She also accuses him of physical and emotional abuse.
Mum Andrea posted: “Have 2 b thankful my daughter alive after 10yrs of worry.”
MEL B will bounce back from her divorce and financial nightmares with a new TV reality show.
She is in talks with US cable giant E! Entertainment for a series about how she is turning her life around following her bitter break-up from husband Stephen Belafonte.
The ex-Spice Girl is being helped by Mariah Carey’s manager Stella Bulochnikov and Kardashian family matriarch Kris Jenner, who both launched successful shows on the network.
A production chief said: “A deal is close to being finalised and Mel has indicated she’s ready to get going as soon as she wraps up her season as a judge on America’s Got Talent.”
Mel, 42, was hit last week by a court order to pay £30,000 a month in support to Belafonte, on top of a payment of £106,920 to cover his legal costs.
She claims that as well as beating her and fathering a love child with the family nanny, Belafonte squandered most of her multimillion dollar fortune during their 10-year marriage.
Mel is currently earning £190,000 a month on America’s Got Talent, but a source said: “She needs to keep earning, even though she fears it will be embarrassing at times to bare all about her divorce in front of the cameras.”
