TV WOMEN IN PAY CALL

-

ANGRY female BBC personalities have joined forces to write an open letter calling on bosses to tackle the gender pay gap.

Household names including presenters Clare Balding, Victoria Derbyshire and Angela Rippon are among more than 40 women who have urged Director General Tony Hall to correct the “disparity” over gender pay.

It comes after the pay of staff earning more than £150,000 a year showed a sizeable gap between male and female presenters.

Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans is on over £2million, while Strictly’s Claudia Winkleman is the top female earner on up to half a million.

In the letter, the signatories say: “Women at the BBC are being paid less than men for the same work.”
