A HOL LOT OF WASTE

-

BRITS waste food worth millions of pounds every year by binning it before going on holiday.

Milk, bread and salad top the list of items thrown away.

People going away this weekend – the start of the holidays for many – will throw away £10 worth of food per person, it is claimed.

Sainsbury’s research found a third of families binned around £20 of food each.

The supermarket giant has launched its Waste Less, Save More initiative after finding more than £200million worth of food goes to waste every year.

Sainsbury’s Paul Crewe said: “The run-up to holidays can be busy with a seemingly neverending ‘to-do’ list.

“Knowing what to do with food in our fridge is just one more thing to think about.”
