Bosses planning an easy return for troubled actor DYER WILL NOT BE OFF TO A FLYER

- ■ by

EASTENDERS chiefs are set to cut back Danny Dyer’s scenes to stop him going off the rails. They will try to ease him into his demanding schedule when he returns as Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter. A source close to the troubled actor explained: “Danny is the star of the show. But despite all his Cockney bravado, he’s a fragile guy and we want to give him the best chance possible. “That means fewer scenes and big storylines until we’re confident he’s back on track, although viewers will still see enough of Mick to keep them happy.” Danny is set to return within weeks after being put on “gardening leave” in February. It was claimed his boozing and partying had driven him to the brink of exhaustion, with Danny spending time in South Africa to recover. Meanwhile, he has commissioned a top jeweller to create a dazzling present for his long-suffering wife Jo, who is mother to his three children.

Danny asked Ian Rankin, who is a favourite with TOWIE stars, to create an eternity ring to present to Jo on their first wedding anniversary in September.

The couple, together for 25 years, have survived claims of Danny’s cheating, with the actor now desperate to prove he has turned over a new leaf.

The couple are living separate lives after the actor left the marital home for a solo flat. Last week, he was seen moving his belongings into a £1,700-a-month rented apartment.

And his 40th birthday party at the Old Epping Forest Country Club this weekend has been cancelled. A source said: “Danny has been telling his friends, ‘Without Jo I would be nothing. I want her to know how much she means to me’.

“They’ve managed to patch things up many times in the past and he’s hoping that this time will be no different.

“But he’s got a hard job ahead of him. Jo’s been telling her pals that she is not even sure that they will make it to their anniversary.”
