GOLFING giant Chris Wood felt like cutting a rules official down to size after getting hot under the collar on the 17th.

The 6ft 6ins Bristol-based star, 29, (left) discovered his ball was plugged but was not allowed relief – and was not a happy man.

Wood, who finished that hole with a one-over-par six in his 68, said: “I was a bit frustrated on the 17th. If the ball is plugged into the ground you can get free relief on every other day of the year. I couldn’t believe it when the referee said, “You don’t get that this week.” It killed my round.

“I don’t get how every week of the year we play to one set of rules and then one week out of the 52 it’s a different set.”
