LOVE ISLAND BABES’ STEAMY ACTION

Stars given secret days off from telly villa

LOVE Island chiefs last night faced claims of a “cover-up” as it was revealed contestants are given “days off”.

The ITV2 series is billed as a reality show where all the action is caught on camera.

But that has been blown apart by former winner Max Morley, inset, in a shock new interview.

He has claimed producers allow contest- ants time outside of the villa when they are not filmed and don’t have microphones.

It means couples can chat about their rivals and their relationships knowing they will never be seen by viewers.

Max, who competed on the show in 2015, made the shock claims while speaking to host Johnny Seifert on talkRADIO. He said: “For us Thursday was a day off. There was a live show on the Thursday night so in the daytime you got to do what you want.

“The boys got to go out and the girls got to go out the following week. We decided to go to the beach and play football and then we got a McDonald’s.

“We got spotted a little bit. But where we were staying was in the middle of nowhere so it was all Spanish people. I think that’s what kept everyone sane… that Thursday.

“We used to look forward to it. Cameras were off. You could just chill, relax and do what you wanted to do.”

Max’s claims are likely to spark outrage from the millions of fans who watched the recent series of Love Island. Producers had up until now kept viewers in the dark about contestants being allowed time away.

But a show spokesman last night said contestants left “on occasion” but said there were not set days off.

Love Island was a ratings sensation this summer — pulling in three times as many viewers as Channel 5 rival Big Brother.

Its success has sparked rumours ITV are plotting to stage a winter series.

Max slammed the idea and said: “I always feel like they try to overdo it. I think just do one a year. With Big Brother it got too much where there was two celebrity a year then a normal one. It kind of killed it.”
