Ex-footballer’s fears over prison throat-slash threat
JAILED footballer Adam Johnson has been urged to convert to Islam for his own protection.
Pervert Johnson is fearing for his life after learning that prisoners are threatening to slash his throat.
He has been approached by a gang of Muslim criminals inside the jail claiming they are the only group willing to protect him.
It is also understood the group have urged him to convert to Islam in a bid to secure his safety.
Prison sources claim Johnson has already attended a couple of prayer sessions inside Moorland Prison, South Yorks, but has yet to take up the Muslim gang’s offer.
Last week the disgraced former Sunderland and England star sought permission to be moved to another prison, but the request has been turned down.
One source said: “Johnson looks like a dead man walking. The only group willing to look after him are a group of Muslim hardcases.
“They are very devout and pray five times a day. No-one gives them any trouble.
“They always offer to help vulnerable inmates, but the price is that anyone they help must convert to Islam. When Johnson discovered he was being targeted they immediately offered him protection.
“At first he was unwilling to take up the offer because he thought he was going to get a transfer out of Moorland, but that’s a non-starter.
“Now it looks like he is having second thoughts because he doesn’t have any friends who are tough enough to watch his back and prison can be a very lonely place if someone is out to get you.” John- son is serving a six-year sentence for sexual activity with a 15-yearold fan.
He was spared being sent to a tough Category A prison because officials feared for his safety as a high-profile sex offender.
He is now sharing a cell on a segregated wing inside Category C Moorland Prison where low-risk sex offenders are held. Sources have told the Daily Star Sunday that Johnson, who once earned £60,000 a week, now cuts an isolated figure after being filmed moaning to other inmates about how terribly he had been treated.
When another prisoner pointed out that he did not commit rape, Johnson laughed and was filmed saying: “I wish I f***ing did for six years.”
