TUMBLE WEED

Lag climbs into dryer in jail laundry to get a fix of zombie drug

- ■ EXCLUSIVE by JOE HINTON

A JAILED Spice addict gets sent into a spin after climbing into a tumble dryer for a hit of the zombie drug.

The lag risked serious injury in the dangerous prison laundry stunt in return for a fix of the former legal high.

Sniggering cons who put him up to it for their own entertainment cruelly turned the machine on.

They then filmed the escapade on a mobile phone smuggled into the nick, which is thought to be in the north west of England.

A source who passed the footage to the Daily Star Sunday said: “This is getting out of hand now.

“The lads who dole out Spice in jail know the Spice heads will do anything for a hit and they take full advantage of that.

“The lad could easily have been seriously hurt, but he was willing to take that risk as he wanted his fix that badly.

“And all they did was laugh and film it. It’s just another form of bullying but it’s going on everywhere and the officers can’t stop it.”

The one-minute clip shows the terrified con sitting on the edge of the dryer drum as he pleads: “You won’t lock me in it will you?”

One of the pranksters from Liverpool replies: “We’ll get you out. Don’t worry about it lad.”

The con then climbs into the drum as one lad jokes: “Put it on, lad. Put it on a fast spin.”

The tumble dryer is then put on a fast spin cycle, to laughter from the cons. One jokes: “He’ll have shrunk by the time he gets out.”

It’s not known if the inmate was injured from the stunt as the clip cuts off. But the source said: “He was in a daze and had a headache for a long time. He could have ended up in hospital.”

Spice is being smuggled into jails at an alarming rate. The Prison Officers Association says the problem has now reached epidemic levels.
