Collins shows style in 10-goal thriller

JAMES COLLINS fired a hat-trick on his debut as Luton beat Yeovil 8-2.

Surprising­ly it was the Glovers who took the lead as Otis Khan fired a free-kick home early on.

Luton hit back through Olly Lee, Collins and Alan McCormack before Isaac Vassell (below) struck twice in as many minutes.

Collins helped himself to two more before Francois Zoko headed a second for Yeovil but Elliott Lee finished off the game in added time.

Forest Green were denied victory in their first Football League fixture after letting slip a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at home against Barnet.

Lincoln marked their return with a 2-2 draw at Wycombe.

The Chairboys scored twice in three minutes after Matt Green had given Lincoln the lead but Josh Ginnelly fired the Imps level soon after the restart.

Accrington made a winning start by beating Colchester 3-1 with Billy Kee showing he has not lost his appitite for a goal.

Jodi Jones’ hat-trick secured Coventry a 3-0 home win against Notts County in torrential rain.

Port Vale ran out comfortabl­e 3-1 winners at Harry Kewell’s Crawley, with Dan Turner’s header the final goal. Promotion favourites Mansfield twice came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw at Crewe. Chris Porter gave the Railwaymen the lead on both occasions but his strikes were cancelled out by Danny Rose and then David Mirfin.

Reuben Reid’s early goal secured Exeter a 1-0 win against Cambridge.

Garry Thompson’s stoppage-time effort clinched Morecambe a

2-1 home win against Cheltenham, after Mohamed Eisa had fired The Robins ahead.

Shawn McClousky struck in the fourth minute of stoppage time to earn Newport County a draw in the six-goal game away to Stevenage.
