Parents in cancer cash plea

-

AT WORK: Dogs are taught to do jobs. Inset, Jo-Rosie with pet barn owl THE family of a boy with cancer are raising funds for other children suffering from the disease.

Nineteen-month-old Finnley Neely Hayes was diagnosed with the rare and aggressive anaplastic large cell lymphoma in April.

Only 10 children in the UK are diagnosed with the condition every year.

Finnley has had intensive treatment for the disease at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, and is so far recovering well.

His parents Donna and Ali are now trying to raise money to help other youngsters who are suffering from cancer.

Donna said: “As an in-patient at Addenbrooke’s Hospital we have met some lovely families, some that potentially have a longer fight than us, some with odds stacked up against them and sadly some that have lost their child to this awful disease.

“This makes it even more important to help raise money in order to provide more research and funding specifically for Children with Cancer so that we can help find a better outlook for everyone and through the use of less gruelling treatment.

“Finnley is responding very well to treatment and although, like all cancers, it is a long road to full recovery we are hoping that he has got past the toughest part.

“He has been an absolute warrior in true Finnley style.

“We will be forever reminding him how brave and inspirational he is.”
