Beast brace keeps Wycombe unbeaten

-

ADEBAYO AKINFENWA’S two goals sent Wycombe home with all three points, beating Port Vale 3-2.

The veteran striker (below) headed in a Sido Jombati set-piece after just two minutes and, after Paris Cowan-Hall had added a second, nodded in a Luke O’Nien corner.

Vale came back strongly in the second half but late goals from Dan Turner and Ben Whitfield proved insufficient.

Pre-season title favourites Mansfield grabbed their first win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Forest Green Rovers.

Striker Danny Rose and winger Paul Anderson scored within six minutes of each other to hand Steve Evans’ side the points.

Coventry maintained their 100 per cent record by beating Grimsby 2-0.

Marc McNulty fired the hosts ahead, before Jack Grimmer added a second.

The Sky Blues top the table as the only side with two wins from two.

Yeovil bounced back from their 8-2 thrashing at Luton on the opening weekend with a 3-2 win over Accrington.

Kayden Jackson gave Stanley an early lead but two goals from Olufela Olomola and a Francois Zoko strike turned the match the Glovers way.

Jackson grabbed his second but it was not enough to secure a point.

Mikael Mandron’s equaliser rescued a first point of the season for Colchester as they drew

1-1 with Stevenage, Jack Taylor struck a late winner for Barnet in a 1-0 victory against Luton and Chris Dagnall grabbed a point for 10-man Crewe in a 1-1 draw with Newport. Franck Nouble gave the visitors an early lead before Perry Ng saw red, but Dagnall levelled a minute later for the Railwaymen. Cheltenham managed a 1-0 win as Mohamed Eisa scored yet again to beat Crawley.

Lincoln came from behind to draw 1-1 with Morecambe and Kaiyne Woolery’s second-half effort ensured Swindon and Exeter finished the same way.

A Jorge Grant brace gave Notts County a 2-0 win over Chesterfield, who had Scott Wiseman sent off, and Carlisle won

2-1 at Cambridge as Reggie Lambe and Tom Parkes fired home.
