Rampant United run riot again but Mourinho is not getting carried away

- ■ by

JOSE MOURINHO is refusing to get too excited despite the fact his Manchester United side have made their best start to a season for more than a century!

The Red Devils looked impressive again yesterday as they grabbed a second successive 4-0 win, following up their victory against West Ham with an equally convincing demolition of Swansea.

You have to go all the way back to 1907 for the last time United won their first two league games in a season by hitting four goals in each match. That year they thrashed Aston Villa 4-1 and PETER OAKES Swansea 0 Man United 4 then opened their home programme with a 4-0 licking of Liverpool before going on to win the title.

But Mourinho has warned fans that the big test for his goal-crazy squad is when they suffer their first defeat.

He said: “We want to win and I don’t want to see the team losing but that’s when you see whether we can mentally react to it because it’s also another stage, losing and trying to change the result.

“At the moment everything is going in our favour but it’s not always the motorway, you always find difficult roads.

“This time last season we had two matches, six points and finished sixth.

“It’s the reality of football, two matches are not the end of the world for teams that lose and not paradise for those that win.

“I’m happy of course and the quality of performance gives me confidence.

“The word that describes the team now is confident, they were at the start and in the second half.”
