KIRK GETS Serious Sally left reeling as wisecracking

-

THIS is the hilarious scene as Kirk Sutherland’s bid to be mayor of Weatherfield takes off. Hapless Kirk recently won a competition to become Weatherfield County’s new football mascot – Buzzy Bee.

But the sight of him in his costume at a political meeting leaves Councillor Sally Metcalfe reeling in disbelief.

Kirk, a life-long County fan, was delighted when a reporter jokingly suggested he run against Sally for the town’s top role.

During Friday night’s episode, viewers will see Yameen Nazir hosting a mayoral campaign evening in the café.

Sally relishes the opportunity of showing up Kirk who has won the backing of her sister Gina.

But while Sally discusses the serious issues she wants to work on if elected, Kirk chooses to tell jokes and talks about puppies. And the crowd love him. The evening leaves Sally feeling disappointed, leading her husband Tim to have a go at Gina for supporting Kirk.

A Corrie insider said: “Sally’s campaign to become a councillor produced some classic Corrie scenes and the race to be mayor will be no different.

“This time you’ve got Kirk dressed in his furry bee costume winning over the locals with his jokes and stories about cute puppies, while Sally is desperate to focus on local issues.

“It starts to look as if Kirk could pull off a shock at the polls.

“Sally can’t believe it. Tim is furious with Gina’s meddling and tells her exactly what he thinks of her. Whether this helps or makes things worse remains to be seen.”

Tune in to the ITV soap on Friday to watch all the drama as Sally and Kirk go head-to-head.
