‘Football Lads’ terror protest
THOUSANDS of football fans marched against “extremism” in the UK. Members of the Football Lads Alliance brought London’s busy Park Lane to a standstill as they protested against terror attacks on British soil.
FLA founder John Meighan said that the all-male protest had been arranged because of concern at the “recent upsurge” in terrorist atrocities like the Manchester bombing and London attacks.
The group was criticised by anti-racism charity Stand Up To Racism. It claimed several speakers at a previous march in June had ties to far-right groups.
In his address to the crowd yesterday, Mr Meighan said: “We’re against all extremism …we’re just normal people.”
He also called for foreign terror suspects to be deported during police investigations.
