EIGHT fighters set out with the goal of becoming World Super Series champion and getting their hands on the Muhammad Ali trophy – and the

WBA super-middleweight belt.

Four Brits – Jamie Cox, Chris Eubank Jr, WBA champ George Groves and Callum Smith – were joined by Germany’s Jurgen Brahmer, unbeaten American Robert Brant, Sweden’s Erik Skoglund and Turk Avni Yildirim.

The first of the elimination fights saw Smith defeat Swede Skoglund last month in Liverpool while Eubank Jr and Yildirim battled it out in Germany last night.

The winner of that fight faces the victor of the Groves v Cox contest in the semi-finals while Smith awaits the winner of Brahmer and Brant on October 28.
