COMIC Harry Hill wants to join EastEnders as a longlost Mitchell brother.

He reckons he’d be great starring alongside fellow baldies Phil and Grant, played by Steve McFadden and Ross Kemp in the soap.

Harry, 53, told the Daily Star Sunday: “A TV role would be great… I’m up for all of that. I don’t tend to get asked because I’m not a particularly good actor. But I could be in EastEnders.

“I could be a long-lost Mitchell brother. I’d be a villain. I used to love EastEnders in the early years when they first had Willmott-Brown. He was a posh baddie and it worked really well.

“They haven’t had that as much recently. It would be good if they had a Mr Big in Walford who could take on Phil.” Harry wants to give the BBC soap a go because he wouldn’t have to spend hours getting ready – like he did for the family show The Incredible Adventures of Professor Branestawm.

He added: “That show was the bit of acting I’ve done and it was okay. But I was hanging around a lot in a costume and a wig. I think my strengths probably lie elsewhere.”

Harry would be following in the footsteps of fellow comedy stars Bobby Davro and Andrew Sachs, who both had roles in EastEnders.

In the past, show chiefs have also hired Denise Welch, Lee Ryan, David Essex and Matt Willis.

Harry is hoping to take over the book charts with kids’ title Matt Millz, which was published by Faber last week.

He said: “I know it’s a bit of a cliché… celebrity writes a kids’ book. I’m slightly embarrassed about that.

“But I get a lot of letters from kids asking me how they can become a stand-up comedian.

“The book follows a character who goes into comedy and in a way it’s my story.

“And doing a book about stand-up is good because you can fill it with jokes.”
