Back-up plan is in full bloom says Sam

-

POP star Sam Smith has a plan B in place in case his singing career fails – he wants to open a florist’s.

Sam says that in his ideal future he sees himself becoming a father and opening a flower shop.

The star, whose single Too Good At Goodbyes went to the top of the charts when it was released last month, admits he would be happy to be a single dad.

Sam said: “I want to be healthy and I want to live as long as possible. I want kids and I want to open a florist’s.

“If a boyfriend comes into that mix somewhere, I’ll be happy. But if it doesn’t happen, I’ll be fine with the flowers.”

Sam spent a year working on his forthcoming second album, The Thrill Of It All – and his love woes feature heavily in his new songs.

“I haven’t been very lucky in my romantic life, it’s true,” he admits.

“I’ve found it all pretty difficult, and I guess in my songs it all just comes spilling out.”

Sam confesses he finds it easier to write sad songs than happy ones.

“I wanted to write about how I’m now starting to open my eyes, at 25, to what is going on in the rest of the world, and that it’s not always pretty,” he says.

“The others are about situations my friends might be going through, or the world in general.

“It’s bleak. It’s not a happy record.”
