Theresa mask’s prime sinister for Halloween

- ■ by ISOBEL DICKINSON

SCARY Spitting Image-style masks of under-fire Theresa May are flying off the shelves for Halloween.

Stores have seen massive demand for the latex creations featuring the face of the embattled Prime Minister.

One fancy dress shop, Rubber Plantation, had nearly sold out online yesterday as October 31 approaches.

The masks, costing £24.99, are described as “brilliantly funny” and ideal for political fancy dress, Halloween costumes, and demonstrations.

They come complete with nylon hair in a similar style to Mrs May’s silver grey bob. A store spokesman said: “We had the masks designed and made to our specification as we thought she would be a particularly good ghoul for Halloween. “This follows on from our Margaret Thatcher mask, which has also proved very popular over the last few years. The Theresa May mask has been snapped up in both the UK and by our customers across Europe in the lead-up to Halloween, so maybe she has still retained some popularity in Europe!”

Last year, US President Donald Trump was the most popular choice for Halloween, with costumes, masks and wigs selling out in shops.

A string of other merchandise mocking the Prime Minister has popped up in the past few weeks.

One T-shirt on Amazon features Mrs May mocked up as cartoon character Mr Burns from TV show The Simpsons, with the PM’s motto “Strong and Stable”.

Mugs are also for sale showing an image of the Tory leader with the words “Weak and Wobbly”. Mrs May’s Halloween popularity comes after a disastrous time for her.

Britain cringed as she coughed and spluttered through her Conservative Party Conference speech, during which prankster Lee Nelson handed her a P45.

At the same time she was too weak to discipline outspoken Tory rival Boris Johnson.

Since then she has failed to make any progress on Brexit, as the European negotiators continue to snub her demands.
