‘X FACTOR GIVES ACTS FALSE HOPE’

Jedward blast ‘pointless’ show

- ■ EXCLUSIVE by ED GLEAVE

JEDWARD have slammed X Factor’s judges for giving wannabes “false hope”.

John and Edward Grimes say the show is becoming pointless as recent winners have failed to become stars.

John said: “The judges need to stop bigging up people and giving them false hope. They need to say it how it is. “There have been so many winners who have come and gone. But it’s about success stories that give legitimacy to the show. “They need to get somewhere because if they’re not then what’s the point of the show?

“Also, the show is always all about the judges but it shouldn’t be. Nicole Scherzinger needs to sit down and stop singing along with everyone.”

His twin Edward said: “It’s about the contestants, not the judges. The judges have already had their careers.” The X Factor has failed to find a big-name chart act since James Arthur won in 2012.

Winners Sam Bailey, Ben Haenow, Louisa Johnson and Matt Terry have all struggled to make a lasting mark on the music industry.

John said: “They need people who want to work and want to try and who aren’t divas all the time. People who in their heart want to be something and someone who can have consistency rather than just being good for a reality show.” Edward added: “They need to find people who don’t have a ceiling. They need performers who develop and show other sides to them.

“And they need to look for singers who can actually sing good pop songs.

“They need to sing all the right notes in tune where they actually need to be. They need to sing on the money.”

Jedward, 26, competed on X Factor in 2009 when the show was incredibly popular. They went on to release three albums.

They are currently on MTV dating series SingleAF, on Tuesdays at 10pm.

John added: “Every year they try to get a new Jedward. They drop our name like there’s no tomorrow.

“The last two bands didn’t really happen but Jedward did. Simon Cowell knows he needs John and Edward to save the show.”
