Bersant bags beauty to drive ’em berserk

- By DAVID HYDE

SUPERSUB Bersant Celina was the Ipswich hero as he curled home a superb 89th-minute free-kick winner with almost his first touch.

The Manchester City loanee (below) fired home from 25 yards to send the Tractor Boys fans delirious.

Ben Turner gave Burton a 57th-minute lead but Martyn Waghorn levelled with his seventh goal of the season – as many as Nigel Clough’s Brewers have hit in 14 league games – and Celina had the final word.

Turner headed home a Matty Lund corner but the lead lasted less than 10 minutes as Waghorn drilled into the far corner through a ruck of bodies from the edge of the box.

Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy said: “Bersant has every chance of getting on when the game gets stretched.

“It’s not his type of game where you are winning headers, fighting and scrapping but with 10 minutes to go it’s a good time and it’s a wonderful finish from him. The fans all love him. He goes on and he scores the goal and he’s the hero. Fabulous.

“There were some other heroes out there that kept the clean sheet up until half-time and kept it down to the score it was. “They enabled him to do that. Good luck to him. It’s brilliant.” Clough said: “It feels very, very harsh to lose that game on the balance of the play and the effort that went in and the chances we created. “We scored a goal and we haven’t done that in five-and-a-half games so that was a bonus at least.”
