Magpies soar to top with Grant’s double

JORGE GRANT scored twice as Notts County moved back to the top of the table with a 3-0 victory against 10-man Newport.

Grant bagged his first before half-time after Dan Butler was sent off for the Exiles. Shola Ameobi doubled the lead before Grant wrapped up the win.

Accrington are up to second following a 4-1 thumping of Barnet.

Sean McConville, Jordan Clark, Billy Kee and Kayden Jackson netted for Stanley with Jamal Campbell-Ryce, who also missed a penalty, getting the Bees’ consolatio­n.

Previous leaders Luton went down 3-0 at home to Coventry. Marc McNulty, Jordan Shipley and Duckens Nazon were on target while Glen Rea was sent off for the Hatters.

Brian Graham scored twice as Cheltenham came back from 3-1 down to take a point in a 3-3 draw at Wycombe.

Adebayo Akinfenwa netted a brace and Ebere Eze was also on target as the Chairboys looked on course for victory.

But Town refused to give up and Carl Winchester made it 3-2 before Graham snatched a point late on.

Lee Holmes rescued a 1-1 raw for Exeter at Mansfield, while Mikael Mandron scored twice for Colchester as they came from behind to beat Crewe 3-1.

Kellan Gordon sealed a comprehens­ive 3-0 victory for Swindon at Port Vale, Keanu Marsh-Brown set Forest Green on their way to a 2-0 success against Morecambe and Kristian Dennis snatched a point for Chesterfie­ld in a 2-2 draw at home to Carlisle.

Yeovil finished their clash against Stevenage with nine men but were already leading 3-0 through a Sam Surridge brace and an Olufela Olomola effort.

Olomola was sent off for his part in a 22-man melee and shortly afterwards another red was shown as Kevin Toner was dismissed for Stevenage to make it 10-a-side.

The Glovers finished with nine when Francois Zoko was sent off but they comfortabl­y held on.

The games between Grimsby and Cambridge and Lincoln and Crawley ended goalless.
