PRETTY Claire Stinson was left paralysed by a rare disease but defied doctors by walking again.

The student, now 21, was packing for a trip to Lanzarote to celebrate her 19th birthday when her hands and feet suddenly went numb.

Doctors diagnosed rare GuillainBarré syndrome which left her unable to move.

Claire said: “The doctors told me I’d be in a wheelchair for life and would probably never walk again.

“I was distraught. I was just about to turn 19 and it was like my entire life had been taken away from me.”

But just weeks later, she started learning to walk again. And five months on she was able to dance the night away on the holiday she nearly never had.

Claire said: “The speed the numbness came on was terrifying.

“One minute it was just my hands and feet and the doctors thought it was to do with smoking.

“They suggested I gave up and that would help, but every day it got worse and soon I couldn’t feel my legs.

“My gran had Guillain-Barré so my dad recognised the symptoms and as soon as we mentioned that, I was admitted to hospital.

“It was nine days before my birthday trip and I was just gutted. I was meant to be flying off with my mates and instead I couldn’t even move my fingers. The days wore on
