LESLIE Jordan reckons TV comedy can help to tackle homophobia.

The actor is known for playing camp Beverley Leslie on Will & Grace, which originally ran from 1998 to 2006.

He said: “In America especially, the show helped change the tide. There are many ways to combat homophobia, but the best way I know of is through humour. To be funny and put a face on it is a wonderful way to change things. And Will & Grace did that.

“People allowed these characters into their homes and a lot of progress was made. I’m really proud to be a part of that.”

Television chiefs have revived Will & Grace for a new series, which is yet to be shown over here.

Leslie added: “The scripts are as good as they were years ago. Most of the original writers are back.

“We have one creator who is gay and another who is straight and they bring a wonderful combination that makes the show great.”

Leslie is also starring in Sky1 comedy Living The Dream, which continues on Thursday

at 9pm.

CORRIE’S Helen Worth has turned down a big-money offer to swing into the TV jungle. She’s been on primetime TV for more than 40 years playing troubled Gail Platt.

I’m A Celeb bosses are desperate to get Helen to sign up for their show.

But she said: “I do get asked. But the answer is always no. I don’t think it’s my thing.”

Last week, Heather Mills told how she snubbed a deal worth more than £1million to take part.

This year’s series is due to start in a fortnight.
