BLUES GREAT GETS BUZZ OUT OF SERG

- ■ by STEVE MILLAR

MANCHESTER CITY legend Mike Summerbee has paid tribute to the club’s greatest ever goal-scorer Sergio Aguero.

And at the same time the man known as “Buzzer” has scoffed at summer speculation that the Argentine maestro was ready to pack his bags, with Chelsea set to welcome him to Stamford Bridge.

Aguero signed from Atletico

Madrid for

£38million in the summer of 2011.

And he has proved his worth to

City time and again with his 178th and record-breaking goal in Naples on Wednesday the icing on the cake.

Club ambassador Summerbee (above) cannot wait to cheer on even more Aguero strikes, with Arsenal next in the firing line at The Etihad this afternoon.

Summerbee said: “I heard those rumours that Sergio might be leaving in the summer but they were nonsense.

“There’s no way that a player with the goal-scoring record that he has would be allowed to leave the club.

“It’s a bit like thinking of selling Francis Lee when we were doing well. If anything, Sergio has got better and better.

“He is also creating things for other people as well as being one of the greatest goal-scorers you will ever see. “The great thing is that you never hear anything about his life outside football.

“If you have a young person growing up and wanting to be a professional footballer, then he epitomises everything that is good about the game.

“Look at Aguero the person and how he conducts himself on and off the field.

“It is quite superb.

“But it just baffles me that he and David Silva – who is another superb player – never pick up any of the major individual awards.

“How stupid is that? “Silva is outstanding, too. His ability is just mind-boggling – you simply can’t explain it sometimes.

“I don’t know what it’s about.”
