JOSE DEMANDS MOUR CREDIT FOR HIS SUCCESS

-

fans’ fears that he is looking to pack his bags after being linked with Paris St-Germain.

Mourinho, defending this season’s performances, said: “What is for you magic? What is for you phenomenal? The way Tottenham played against Real Madrid?

“I think recently I saw some team play exactly that way and it was negative. I saw a team play exactly that way – defending, pressing, controlling all the penetration.

“Playing with five at the back, getting the full-backs forward, getting the ball, going forward in quick transitions, attacking the last defensive line.

“I think recently I watched a match like that but it was not on TV. It was close, it was on the touchline.”

So, he was asked, what would it take for Mourinho himself to get the credit he deserved.

Mourinho added: “I think that probably 25 trophies is the line that people made about a successful manager. For some managers

they still need to win one more trophy to reach that 25 level.

“Some others need 25 trophies to reach that level. Some others need four. Some others, they need 12. Some others, they need 15. Some others need 24.

“I have 25 but I still need one more. So maybe when I win one more trophy than 25 I have a little bit of credit but that’s not a problem.

“Am I frustrated? No. It’s just a difficult week. Big matches, injuries, tired – just normal.”

Mourinho is still seething about losing for the only time this season at Huddersfield, where he was unhappy with reports he reacted angrily to Ander Herrera’s post-match comments about his team-mates’ display.

He said: “I love my players. You try to create a history because of my words after Huddersfield but there is no history about it. That I was not speaking with Ander Herrera any more?

“Ander Herrera is the kind of player I have to push away because he wants to speak with me all the time. I don’t know where you get these kind of stories but yes, I am happy.

“We lost one match, August, September, October, Premier League, Champions League, League Cup. We lost one match. So it was easier to ask what was the unpleasant thing or what I didn’t like. “I didn’t like the match against Huddersfield.”
