Fashanu flat on his grass

- With ED GLEAVE and PETER DYKE

JOHN Fashanu suffered a terrifying blackout when he used marijuana for the first time.

The former footballer has avoided booze and drugs his whole life.

But his latest TV project saw him go on a road trip across the US to learn about the weed’s uses.

In San Diego he finally took the plunge and sampled the drug.

Fash said: “I didn’t want to try it. But I agreed to have a cookie. I was very worried.

“I’ve been brought up to believe marijuana, cocaine and heroin – they’re all the same.

“I don’t classify them

A, B…they’re all the same.

“For me it didn’t do anything at all until two hours later. And then I blacked out.

“I forced myself to go to the front of the bus and I was looking out…and that was it…boom. I was out.”

Producers had medical experts on hand to ensure John was safe during filming for the series, which starts this week.

He is joined on the show by fellow TV favourites including Christopher Biggins and

Linda Robson.

THE celebs put their safety on the line when they joined a police swoop on a suspected drugs cartel.

A SWAT team scouted the area before Pam St Clement and John Fashanu joined cops raiding an illegal farm in Colorado. Pam said: “There were weapons there. In that situation you’re talking about serious money.

“I walked past nine guys who had been arrested. They had obviously been forced to do it.”
