Casper tipping Salford to be Class acts

-

A GLITTERING Who’s Who of footballing greats will enter the new Theatre of Dreams today.

Five of the famous Class of ’92 – Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Gary and Phil Neville – will line up with pals for a friendly against the club they are nurturing towards the Football League.

And they will be joined by Rio Ferdinand, Dwight Yorke, Jamie Carragher, Steve McManaman and Shay Given, all ready to give the Salford City faithful inside the impressive redeveloped Peninsula Stadium a glimpse of what could lie ahead.

Salford top the National League North and could well earn promotion into the National League – just below the Football League.

The sporting director is Chris Casper (left) – also an Old Trafford youth product.

He said: “The Class of ’92 spend a lot of time and effort working on behalf of the club, making certain we’re moving in the right direction. We were given tremendous opportunities as young players at United and we now want to provide the same opportunities for young players.”

Scholes said: “You can see how the stadium is developing. You want to win all the time. We have been used to winning and now we’ve got a great chance of going up. We have invested heavily in the squad to hopefully make that happen.”
