The Fors is with Ron to go Dutch

- ■ by GREG ADAMS

BIG FAN: Forster FRASER FORSTER believes his old boss Ronald Koeman would be a ‘fantastic’ choice for the Holland national team.

Koeman, 54, is currently hunting for a new job after being axed by Everton last month following two wins in nine league games this season.

And he has been heavily tipped to become the new boss of the Dutch national side.

Current coach Dick Advocaat has confirmed he will be stepping down later this month and Koeman (right) has been touted as the ideal replacement.

Koeman has never coached a national side before and he distanced himself from the post while in charge of Everton.

But Forster, 29, who worked with the Dutchman at Southampton, believes his old gaffer would thrive if he went in that direction.

“He will suit whatever job comes his way. If that’s what he wants to do he will be fantastic at it,” said Forster.

“He is a great manager. I am sure he will adapt whether it is club football or international.

“Ron is a fantastic manager and a great person. He was fantastic with me.

“He is a fantastic coach and I have no doubt he will end up in a top job somewhere else.”

Koeman is held in high regard by many of his former players at Southampton.

The Dutchman led the Saints to their highest ever Premier League finish of sixth in 2016 before joining Everton.

Southampton midfielder Steven Davis expected Koeman to flourish after going to Goodison Park.

And, even after Davis witnessed his old boss getting the chop from the Toffees, he thinks he will be back in the big time soon.

“I expected him to go there and do very well,” said Davis.

“It is obviously a results-driven business and the decision was made.

“He has been at some top, top clubs.”
