Dry wit of UK’s top stand-up!

-

TOP comic Micky Flanagan has been keeping a secret from his fans.

He’s had a month off the booze so he can make the most of Christmas.

The East End funnyman has been playing to sell-out audiences across the country in his “An’ Another Fing’’ tour and usually jokes on stage about his drinking.

Micky, 55, has even stopped going to his local pub to avoid temptation and has asked for his dressing room to be dry before he goes on stage.

Britain’s biggest-selling comedian told a friend: “I would like to say it’s been easy – but it hasn’t.

“The wife suggested I do sober October and I didn’t have the heart to say no.

“To be honest, it’s not fun being sober all the time.

“The only good thing is I’ve got Christmas boozing to look forward to.”

Micky lives in Dulwich in south London with his wife Cathy and son Max, 11.

He drinks nearby in a traditional pub on Lordship Lane.

But Micky said: “I can’t go in at the moment – too much temptation.”

His 12 nights at London’s O2 Arena recently were so successful he was given the keys to the venue.

The move led him to joke about sliding down the roof naked in the rain but “wearing a thong if legally required”.

Fans attending gigs were asked to arrive early as long queues have built up at the bar pre-show.

Micky’s two-month UK tour ended in Brighton last weekend.
