Ronaldo cashes in on spot of good fortune

CRISTIANO RONALDO grabbed the winner as Real Madrid moved seven points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona with an unconvincing 3-2 win over Malaga.

The superstar (below) tucked away the rebound after his 76th-minute penalty had been saved by Roberto Jimenez.

Real had twice thrown away a lead as the visitors cancelled out first-half goals from Karim Benzema and Casemiro.

Benzema tapped in from two yards but Diego Rolan capitalised on some poor defending to equalise before Casemiro headed home soon after.

But in the 59th minute Malaga levelled again as Real keeper Kiko Casilla could only parry Gonzalo Castro’s low shot from distance into his own net.

That left Real facing the prospect of dropping points for the sixth time this season until Luis Hernandez barged over Luka Modric in the box for the late spot-kick.

Borussia Dortmund’s miserable season hit a new low as they threw away a 4-0 half-time lead to draw 4-4 at home to derby rivals Schalke.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opened the scoring and, after Benjamin Stambouli’s own goal, further goals from Mario Gotze and Raphael Guerreiro left both sets of fans rubbing their eyes in disbelief. Guido Burgstaller and sub Amine Harit pulled goals back and, after Aubameyang was sent off for a second booking, Daniel Caligiuri’s fine goal in the 86th minute set up a grandstand finale.

And four minutes into stoppage time, Naldo headed the equaliser.

Liverpool-bound Naby Keita and Bernardo scored as RB Leipzig went second in the Bundesliga with a 2-0 home win over Werder Bremen 2-0 but leaders Bayern Munich lost 2-1 away to Borussia Monchengladbach. only
