What away to go says Warnock

- By STEVE MORGAN

NEIL WARNOCK has told his Cardiff side to continue on their road to success by picking up a second away victory in a week.

The Bluebirds won 1-0 at Barnsley on Tuesday night to keep up the pressure on Championship leaders Wolves.

They head to Nottingham Forest today without a host of key men to face a Reds side on a good run of form themselves.

Warnock will not be able to call upon Kenneth Zohore, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Aron Gunnarsson – all still on the treatment table.

But he insists his side can maintain the momentum that has kept them among the title chasers heading into the busy festive fixtures.

“There are no easy games in this league,” said the Cardiff boss. “But it will not be easy for them either – that’s the way I look at it.

“I’m sure our lads will be up for it, and the fans too.

“We had a brave 250-odd the other night in terrible conditions on a Tuesday night in Barnsley. All credit to those that travelled.

“They made themselves heard as well – I suppose you had to sing to keep warm.”

Forest made it four straight home wins with a 1-0 triumph over Norwich in midweek.

Reds boss Mark Warburton – who will be without Tendayi Darikwa – is keen to extend that run to five.

He said: “We have had some pleasing performances defensively as a team.

“But Cardiff will pose us a strong physical test and there will be no shortage of quality from them.

“Everyone talks about their physicality but they have some outstanding players and we are looking forward to what will be a good, quality encounter.”
