Dyche all Gud for Johann

BERG’S 3 LIONS CALL

-

SAM VOKES may be the DJ in Burnley’s dressing room but it is Johann Berg Gudmundsson who is banging the drum for Sean Dyche.

The Clarets go into today’s home game with Arsenal in seventh place, level on points with the three-time Premier League champions after a stunning start to the season.

And Gudmundsson has heaped praise on boss Dyche, who he says has done an “unbelievable” job since the club returned to the top flight.

The Turf Moor manager has been linked with a move to Everton and despite the fact the Icelander knows Burnley cannot hold on to him forever, he thinks Dyche’s next step should be the England job.

Gudmundsson, who started for his country when they embarrassed the Three Lions at Euro 2016, said: “He has done an unbelievable job with Burnley and I think he will even grow as a manager.

“Hopefully one day he will manage England because I think he has the potential.

“I think it’s just a bit weird in England that they keep looking for foreign managers.

“Every team looks abroad but there are good English managers and Sean Dyche is one of them. He is a great manager and he will do great things in the future.

“He’s organised and we have good training sessions. He goes through the opposition really well and each week we know both the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition.

“He demands performances from us. Every day we are 100 per cent. We train extremely hard. We never turn up and do a session 50 per cent.”

Burnley chase a fourth home win of the season today and just like he was during Iceland’s exploits in France, Gudmundsson is loving

RALF RANGNICK has ruled himself out of the

running for the Everton job.

Despite conflicting claims on the chances of the German taking over at Goodison Park, sources close to the RB Leipzig boss insist he is “not interested” in succeeding the sacked Ronald Koeman.

Rangnick, 59 – regarded as one of the best coaches in the Bundesliga – was seen as an alternative target to Watford’s Marco Silva but he is expected to extend his contract with Leipzig.

Silva, 40, remains Everton’s preferred appointment but Watford have rejected a compensation offer of £10.5million for their manager. It now seems Silva will have to force the issue and tell Watford he wants to leave, if his ambition is to move to Everton.
