Her Maj loves stinky sprouts

THE Queen’s favourite festive treat is Brussels sprouts.

Her Majesty particularly loves the stinky side dish served up with toasted chestnuts.

Our royal source said: “Of course Christmas for the royals is a lavish affair but just like normal families, members of the household have different festive favourites. “For the Queen it’s Brussels, Brussels, Brussels which always makes everyone laugh given the association with farting.”

She added: “Philip is a lover of all things rich and naughty, so it’s mince pies and brandy sauce. “Lunch has been goose before, and the Queen also favours a three-bird option, but this year it’s turkey.

“Of course there’s all the trimmings including damson and port jelly and homemade clove bread sauce.”

Christmas Day begins with a full fry-up. Haggis and kippers bring a Scottish flavour to the usual bangers and bacon. Where they can, the royals eat crops, fish and meat from Prince Charles’ own Highgrove estate.

Our source added: “A break is taken after the main event, before cheeses and Christmas pudding. Often there is a game of charades at the table.

“While everyone thinks of the royal family’s stiff upper lip they really do have the best sense of humour.

“Her Majesty loves a cheeky joke and is herself a bit of a comedian. She’s known as an impersonator as she nails a cockney accent and can do certain celebrities!” a top idea. The diet of players at this level is so important.

“Not one of the team has objected to advice from the experts.” Guardiola is preparing his squad for an away match at Newcastle United the day after Boxing Day.

The father-ofthree likes to eat meat but his wife Cristina, 45, is a vegetarian. Since being made City boss last year, Guardiola has spent countless hours with his physical training staff, drumming up the ideal diet for his side to achieve perfection.

Our source went on: “Pep has no wish whatsoever to interrupt any of his players’ joy at Christmas.

“He’s just really professional and wants to get the best out of the lads, the fans and the club.”
